Tips to stop bed-wetting in kids

a comfortable bed

Bed-wetting is something every moms fear. It's a nightmare for most. If you are trying to stop the usage of the diapers for the first time then you should go through this. I'm a experienced mom of 3 kids.

It's very easy to train girls. They have more control over their bladder than the boys. Boys tend to take longer time. Some even goes into high school.

But I believe everything is a matter of subconscious mind. It took me two years for my boy but my girl masterd it in just 2 days !!

And now for the tips: always make them urinate right before they go to bed. Even if they have or don't have !

Take them again when you are going to sleep. Most of the time even if the kids go to bed early it takes them 1 or 2 hours to actually sleep !

Keep an alarm for the next trip to bathroom. If it is first time for you keep it after 3 hours . Gradually when you understand the timing you can increase the interval. Some kids will stop right after 2 or 3 days and won't need a trip to bathroom during their sleep. But for some it takes a lot of time.

Always keep an eye on their fluid intake during day. If your child is drinking too much water, then he is likely to urinate after 1 or 2 hours when he is sleeping. Buying a new bottle can make them drink much more than they usually drink ! So always take care to keep track of the fluid intake and plan according to that.

Don't scold them when it goes out of hand. Tell them it's ok and that he should take care next time. Scolding them for a fault not theirs can be an adverse effect on  their mind and it can make them either urinate everyday before you wake up or hold it in their sleep which can result in much bad effect than wetting a bed.

Always take precautions to keep the bed covered. Don't stop them from drinking water in fear of bed wetting.  Lastly you will need a whole lot of patience and understanding to make it through. Don't get angry or discouraged. Don't compare them with other kids or insult them in front of others. Support them and tell them you will be always there and there is no need to worry it will be ok .

Avoid waking them up constantly and losing their sleep. Carry them to bathroom and to bed. I have found with my own experience that giving mental support is what will help you and your child through this. Know that they don't do it intentionally and they also want to overcome the situation.
